A Day to Remember,
Yesterday, September 23, 2023 I went on a hike. Felt good to be out in nature and to disconnect from the hectic life I’ve live through the past week.
I was a woman on a mission. Had my book in my earbuds, was dressed accordingly and had my hiking shoes on. A full water bottle for the short hike and I was set.
As I started on my hike, I decided to connect to nature. The book I was listening to was suggesting that and I was ready!
Being a little out of shape, I was breathing a little harder than normal, ok, a lot harder than normal. Walking fast and getting into nature was the goal.
The more I to into nature, the more I slowed down. I realized I could feel the connection with the soil, it was pliable, absorbent and also dust that can fly through the air. The trees, they are the lungs of the planet, they breathe in dirty air and let out clean air, so we can breathe. I noticed the wind, although quiet, it was moving the branches, although invisible it was making things happen that I could see and feel on my skin. As I got my feet wet, in the cold water of the reservoir, My body felt the cold, but my mind was noticing the reflection on the water, the waves the wind was making, the ducks swimming with the wind and how the cold water calmed my heart. So, September 23, 2023, I took the time to connect with nature, and nature connected to me, I felt my lungs expand, my feet solid on the ground, my mind clearing in the water, my thoughts solid on the granite of the mountain.
I was fully aware that I miss this. I miss the connection to nature. And I haven’t done much of it. Nature is a force that will gladly connect if we are willing.
I am so grateful to know I can connect any time I want to, for 5 minutes, 5 hours or a whole day….better yet, my whole life.
When was the last time you connected to nature and really let go of everything else? If it has been a while, please consider going into nature and connecting, it is very peaceful, fulfilling and healing.
I’ve since done it several times and intend to continue to do as much as opportunity presents itself. For now I connect to the beautiful Rockies, looking forward to connecting to the ocean and sand, and to the all the landscapes on the planet.
